Background
Involvement of the industries is an essential part for the expansion of any activity. In many developing countries the benefits of university-industry collaboration are clearly visible. As an example, a study in Chile and Colombia showed that collaboration with universities substantially increased the propensity of firms to introduce new products and application for patent (Marotta et al., 2007). Collaboration may differ, it should be either formal or informal, from formal equity partnerships, contracts, research projects, patent licensing, and so on.
